Spring is finally here! Just caught a picture of the first tow going up river on the Mississippi this morning. There might have been one or two during the night but since I didn’t see them – they don’t count. I would have missed this one as I was blogging but my dad saw it. By time I got my camera out it was already past our house. Yesterday we saw a switch boat (which moves one or two barges but stay in the same pool) so we knew the tows would start running. Seeing them go up and down the river will be a constant now. The only reason they will stop is if we have a flood. There is talk of one but I’m hoping it doesn’t happen.
Yesterday I was strip piecing my greens and this little bundle of fat eights jumped out at me and I thought I would try another bargello pattern. It started out as placemats but the way I arranged my colors was too boring (imagine 1/4th of the design. So I did some rearranging and made a lap quilt. The bundle of fabrics was actually very thin and cheaply made, of course I bought them really “cheap”. Lesson learned…..check out the fabric better before you buy.
This may be my quilt for Judy’s March Monochromatic challenge. What are you working on?
