Day & Night Table Runners
Both of the Day & Night Table Runners are done and I hope my friends like them. The large runner gets gifted tonight and the smaller one tomorrow night – I get dinner out 2 nights in a row! I thought I would go outside and brave the heat for some pics. “Dino” a very special rock wasn’t too happy being covered by a quilt in this heat but it was only for a moment.
The large runner is 18″ x 42″. Ann and JL have a large dining room table that I think this will look great on. It is their anniversary on the 24th.
The smaller one is for Rhonda, her birthday is on the 24th also. Builder Bob is almost done with her remodel, I wish I had taken pictures during it. She now has all oak floors, trim and cabinets and off-white walls. I wasn’t sure what to make her as she is getting all new furniture, hopefully this will work somewhere. The size is 16 x28 and she does have a small dining room table that I think she is keeping.
I’m not sure if the curves look good with this design or not. I actually contemplated making this into a doggy mat…..take out the center long curves and it looks like a bone. She has 2 little Yorkies that might have liked it.
I used Bottom Line thread in a caramel color for all of the meandering.
Yesterday I posted a photo of the blocks and called it Blazing Stars by Eleanor Burns…..sorry that isn’t what the pattern is. She has a Blazing Stars but it is a die for the Accuquilt Studio.
It is a Quilt in a Day book called Day & Night Quilt and INCLUDES the acrylic template needed to make this design. I have always liked her books – lots of pictures – lots of detail. Everything is cut in strips to begin with.
These are the leftovers I have, I’ll use them for other projects….like mug rugs.
One of the first things she says is that if you prewash your fabric you may not get the required amount of blocks……believe her…..my fabric was already washed and I came up 1 short each time. Fortunately I had plenty of fabric.
The pattern looks hard but isn’t. There seems to be a lot of waste at first but you actually make different blocks from the scraps. I am sure when my daughter sees this pattern I will be making something for her…..plus I need something for myself.
Since I was outside I took a picture of this little bunch of flowers. I really love them but can never remember the name – Showstar – Melampodium. I buy them every year and they bloom until frost. They actually reseed but I seem to put most of them thinking they are weeds.
I hope you enjoyed the Day & Night Table Runners post.
