The Around the World quilt is one of the easiest quilts to make.
Depending on your colors they can look so different.
This is a very old UFO.....started maybe 15 years ago. I have no idea why I never finished it...well hmm it still seems like I start more projects than I finish so I guess that is what happened.I bet you don't have any of these fabrics in your stash! I pulled this out after seeing Marcia's table runner with a Lazy Daisy quilt pattern at Crafty Sewing & Quilting I just couldn't wait to try it out. At the time she just had photos of it and I was able to figure out how she quilted it.
I was just going to fold the backing over to the front and bind it that way but I quilted too close to the edges and every time I try to trim the batting I cut a hole in the back. So I used another old fabric for the binding.
I love this pattern!
Wow that checked fabric can drive you wonky if you look at it too long! You can see a couple rows of quilting that aren't done yet, you go in one direction and then come back and stitch the other direction.
Marcia's quilting is much better but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I was able to turn a UFO into a small table mat and also learn a new quilting pattern....not bad!
I told you this was a fast tutorial - you can save the image below to give you all the info you need to make a small Around the World quilt.

This is a great little quilt - I've pinned it so I can remember to make one when I get home. :) blessings, marlene
Great little quilt. It looks wonderful on your table, and the quilting is beautiful!
That quilting is beautiful! Very nice Connie!
I recognize all of those fabrics and DO have the floral in my collection, I think in more than one colorway. I remember the time period they are from too. Nice quilting!
