Another UFO bites the dust!
I took this photo in December 2010 and I think I pieced during the summer. It was one of my UFO’s to finish in 2011 but it didn’t happen. I remember I was just getting into quilt blogging and reading about Jelly Rolls……..I had never heard of them. I got all excited and started cutting up a bunch of my 10 year old fabrics into 2.5 inch strips and making bundles of 40 strips for my own Jelly Rolls.
I even gave one to a friend who thanked me politely and probably walked away thinking I was a little crazy. Then I read about a Mile a Minute or Jelly Roll 1,000 feet quilt or something and this is what I put together. It sure didn’t look like the ones I saw on other blogs! Hmmm maybe because the fabrics aren’t coordinated. It got shoved in the back of my closet and when we did the closet demolition I decided I had better do something with it.
I started quilting it…..got about 4 rows quilted and THEN decided I had better check the tension on the back. Oh boy was it terrible so guess what I did….shoved it back in the pile of quilt tops.
Well Monday I decided it was time to do something with it so I spent the morning with my handy seam ripper taking out the quilting. When I was done I started to quilt it AGAIN but this time I checked right away to make sure the tension was correct. I finally got it all quilted with a medium size stipple.
I was planning on taking it outside for pictures but we had up to 30 mile an hour wind gusts and it would have landed in the river.
Well the quilt looks much better now that it is quilted and finished. I’m still going to try and get a better picture of it outside. Surprisingly, Builder Bob really likes it!
It definitely has been inspected by my assistants! I’m sure there is no cat hair on it.
Bo Jangles is fitting in well with Bella and Simon…..of course if I try to pick her up she still runs. I think she has the quilting gene in her too!
