Here is a great example of what not to do. I was having fun making half square triangles from scraps and I put this block together the other day not paying attention to the values….just a scrappy block.
Then I used some old polyester batting to back it as I was going to make it into a pillow. I wanted to quilt it with free motion straight lines………..
I got carried away and made the lines way too close. Oops….don’t look at my center seam…imperfect match. Anyway, by time I got done quilting this was as stiff as a piece of cardboard.
Here you can see I auditioned it as a pillow………..yuck. So I added binding and it will be a centerpiece. We go through them pretty fast as we always use one on the table at dinner time.
I desaturated the photo and you can see that my color placement wasn’t very good. I was going to do a tutorial but I think I’ll wait until I do a better combination of colors.
This is one fourth of the block, hopefully I can make a better one next week for a tutorial.
Today is Builder Bob’s birthday so I’m taking him to our favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch and then we are doing a bunch of cleaning to get ready for his big 60th party this Saturday.
Next post……….my clean quilt studio!
