There was no quilting for me today……….Builder Bob needed Cleaner Connie on the job.
This is what he has been working on the last month or so.
A big remodel out in the country about 20 miles away. Today he was framing the front porch on this neat old house which reminds me a lot of the one my parents used to have.
This old building will be their new office upstairs and downstairs will be a shower and an area for the guys working for them to do their paperwork. There will be a large deck all around it too.
Interesting piece of history……the original house on this farm was brick and a tornado destroyed it. The family built this brick building with brick from the destroyed home and lived in it while building the big white farm house that is standing today. My parents home was over 100 years old and built in the same style as this one so we think the brick building is probably that old.
I wish I would have taken some pictures before we gutted this building but I forgot my camera. My job today was to clean up the scraps and vacuum the floors before the insulation guys come tomorrow. Easy peasy job……Builder Bob figured a couple hours……..this level wasn’t too bad.
This is the ground level, I sure wish I had taken pictures when I first got there. The plumbers were there, then the heating guy…stuff all over the place and the floor was covered in wood shavings and brick from drilling holes in the walls. You are seeing the area framed in for the utility room and shower/bathroom.
Take a close look at the floor…..colored concrete with a imprint design which has grooves about 1/4th inch deep…….was that a pain to clean! I had to work down on my knees (I’ll pay for that tomorrow) to get all the dirt out of the groove cuts. This turned out to be a 5 hour job. This isn’t a floor I would want to have to maintain.
Of course I am seeing a quilt pattern in the floor………..do you?
