Turquoise Quilt Strings

I made my turquoise string blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this month. I found that I didn’t have as much in that color in my scraps as I thought.

Turquoise Quilt Strings

I cut my telephone page paper into 8 inch squares and then used a old sewing machine needle (as paper will dull a good needle) and just sewed strips of different sizes to it. Then I trimmed the block and the 4 blocks will be put together and quilted for the quilt as you go project I am doing for the challenge. I’ll get it quilted sometime this week.

I’ve been working on some blog changes and hope I haven’t messed anything up, someone said they couldn’t see my graphics anymore…..oh no! I am not sure if this has something to do with getting the .com address – I think I still create posts through blogger, I hope to get this all fixed this weekend 🙂

  1. I love your string blocks. They really look fun. Looks like you found plenty of blues. I like your new site. I was also surprised by the new change in your name. I will check my Blogger Reader and see if I need to change the name. So far great!

I love your blocks. I did 30 this weekend and have them sewn together into a top. I use muslin (had been curtains) or whatever I have in size I want. These were 8 1/2 x 8 1/2. They are really scrappy! This is a charity quilt; I practice machine quilting on them.

  6. Love your new blog title and graphics. You are so creative!!!

  7. The string blocks are pretty. The blog is looking good as well. I like the header and the new name.

  8. Those are so pretty, Connie! My husband's aunt used to sew on newspaper (not phone book pages, but same idea) all the time – way back in the 40's! Everything old is new again, right? These are really wonderful!

I think I will be in same fix, I thought I had quite a few aqua/turquoise scraps but when I pulled them out I was surprised not to find too many. I will be lucky to get one or two 12" blocks. Love how your make your strings using the telephone book. Noticed your name change, how did you do that? Your blog comes up with the new name and no reference to Quilting on the River, I thought it couldn't be done. I have wanted to change my name for quite a while. Because of a mix up with Google my original name was canceled and I can't get it back, even though I registered and paid for it.

  11. Lovely string blocks and your blog looks good here.
