This is a bargello quilt that I pieced….last year or the year before. It has been kind of fun to finish up these different old projects!

The size is 28 x 32 and I just did a large stipple on it.

When I finished this I wasn’t too happy with it. There wasn’t enough contrast in the different fabrics. I wish I would have put the same fabric that I used in the border into the center of the design. I have a feeling I didn’t have the cute paw print yet.

I remember that I took a picture of it for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and then saw that I had a couple rows that were off. I think it is amazing how things like that are so much easier to see in a photo. Anyway, I got out my seam ripper and fixed my boo boo…………then I put in the “quilt later” pile.

I put a cute cat fabric on the back, another oldie from my stash.

  1. I do like it. It just seems all warm and chocolatey to me.

  2. It's a great little quilt Connie. I'll admit there is very little brown in my stash but I really do like the way this one you've made looks.

  3. I admire anyone who can make a bargello quilt. I have tried but my colors are not good. I have no talent for picking color values. I am good at putting colors together to make a quilt but not to do the shading you need for this. I think yours is awesome and I like it just the way it is. It will look good hanging on my wall if you really don't like it and think it should have a new home. Just saying……

I love that cat fabric! I like your quilt, I'm going to have to make one one of these days!

  5. I really like the color-washed look, especially the center. Kinda soft, like 'twilight'. The kitty fabric on the back is darling!
What am I doing? Shopping and getting my "start up" stuff for my new Sizzix. 😉 Oh, and cleaning house. ;(

  6. I've always wanted to tackle a bargello. I do love the colors in yours.

Isn't it funny how those boo-boos show up in photos?

  7. Love the kitties! You are doing such a nice job with your projects.

  10. So beautiful! Love your backing fabric 🙂

  11. It's beautiful, Connie – love the cute backing too.

Its a stunning quilt – I really like how the colors all blend together. You did a fantastic job.

  13. Connie, I think the blended effect is very pretty. More contrast would be nice, too, but either one works. It is very nice just as it is.

I really like this too… I agree with other comments that it looks like a watercolor quilt. Those are some very pretty fabrics.

Connie, this is lovely! I've always liked the idea of doing a bordello quilt, but was intimidated by the 'bigness' of them. I'm looking at yours thinking it's more do-able. Where did you get your pattern? And I adore the print you used on the back — it's purrrrrfect!!! 🙂

I think you quilt is lovely. I love the blended look. It almost has a 3D look.

  17. For me, this is wonderful because I love the soft blended effect you achieved. I think it is so hard to predict how a bargello or trip around the world will turn out until it is sewn. Love the backing fabric to finish this off.

  18. I really like the colours in the Bargello , it looks great !
