Coffee time goodies

There are sometimes that I just enjoy spending a day putting things together and experimenting. A couple weeks ago I pulled out this cute print with coffee cups on it that I have had for some time. It is a Debbie Mumm print that I thought would be fun to work with…..after aging for a year in my stash I figured I’d better do something with it. There was a cute stripe fabric that matched too.
The first thing I did was cut some 2.5 inch strips and made some blocks…..I wasn’t crazy about the color combination but I figured it would make a cute table runner.
I used some of the scrap ends from the strips sets for this and added a little applique. I did a little echo quilting practice.
Then I played with some half square triangles (HST) and ended up with a
bunch of squares that I just put together for some mug rugs and small
table toppers. It seems like there was a technique I tried….can’t remember right now….it is in my huge pile of notes……..anyway I ended up with a bunch of blocks and just put them together in different ways.
I sure like that striped binding!
More playing……
2 more blocks and these were the first 2 I put together. I didn’t do a binding and I just don’t care for that look……which is probably why everything got shoved into a pile until I was in the mood to put on bindings. That is my least favorite part of quilting.
Have you every done something like this……just make lots of different blocks and turn them into little projects? I still have some of the fabrics left too but it is now back in the stash.
I spent yesterday working on a couple Christmas presents for my granddaughters and wanted to put up a tutorial but my sinus infection is keeping my brain from functioning…..so I thought I’d share these.
Builder Bob still has the Bells Palsy but seems in the morning to be a little better and later in the day worse, hopefully soon it will go away. He put his back out last week which I forgot to mention, so between my dad, Bob and me…….not a fun household. Tomorrow the visiting nurse will be back to check on dad and see when he can start physical therapy, he is doing pretty good.
I think I’ll go enjoy a cup of coffee, do a little reading then enter some more of the giveaways, don’t forget to enter mine and of course I’ll spend some time quilting. Enjoy your day!
Yea I'm behind and playing catchup a bit. I had to tell you I like that color combo. Did you decide you like it more yet? They turned out great.

I hope you and Bob get better soon. It will be great if your dad is recovered enough to start physical therapy. Hopefully the New Year will see all three of you fitting fit and ready for anything.

Striped bindings are always winners in my book!
I'm sorry the hubs still has BP – I've had it twice now (once per side, first time much worse than the second) so I know it's not the most fun medical problem in the world. Luckily I made complete recoveries so I wish the same for Builder Bob.

I love what you've done with those fabrics. Yes, I did make a bunch of blocks one time In various purple prints. Unfortunately they didn't work out as nicely as your blocks have! Nevertheless,I still put them together and it's a quilt waiting to be finished in my stash. My niece thinks it's pretty.
These are just adorable Connie! Love that cute Debbie Mumm fabric and what a great color combination. I'm with you – I think a bound edge adds so much and I've been working on building my collection of stripes as I love it for binding too.
