Design Wall Monday

Pin It I have my Orange Easy Street quilt all pieced and ready to quilt. I'm going to keep this quilt from becoming a UFO.

I had to wait until later to put the batting and backing on the floor......someone woke up and decided to help me.
Simon checking out my quilt top
I think Simon is checking to make sure the seam are all pressed the right way......sigh.....I'll just wait until he goes to sleep again.

I couldn't stand it any longer, it seemed like everywhere I went I was seeing these Scrappy Trip around the world blocks. I made 12 of them, enough for a lap quilt for my dad and I hope to get it finished this week. I had a bunch of 2 1/2 inch strips that I cut a long time ago which made it fast and easy to make.

You can find the tutorial at Quiltville. I guess it started on Instagram  but I have no idea how that works or what it is good for......do you use it or know where to find a good tutorial about it?

Oh, I have waited on basting out a quilt because of the 'help'. I made Bonnie's Scrappy Trip way back when it first came out - I don't know anything about Instagram - like Facebook and Twitter - another thing I avoid.

LOL - Simon's photo is sooo cute. Maybe he was checking to see if the pretty new quilt was quilted yet! I've heard of Instagram, too, but don't know a thing about it. Altho, I think DH told me it's an app.

Your Easy Street has turned out wonderful. Love the "help" you were getting on your quilt.

Instagram is an app you can install on your phone (iPad too, I guess). It is essentially a filter that makes your photographs look "vintage". Instagram has their own website where users upload photos to share with everyone. I tried it briefly and was underwhelmed. I have an app on my phone called Camera 360 that does everything Instagram does and lots more. I already spend enough time reading blogs and Facebook, so I don't need another website to suck up more of my free time!

Awesome Easy Street. I am sure Kitty came out without finding anything wrong on the other side.

Looks like kitty wants a nice warm place to sleep and checking our your Easy Street quilt. Your blocks will make such a nice scrappy Trip Around the World. So many ideas on the internet, it keeps you head whirling and your hands busy.

I have the same kind of help when I baste! I'm doing the scrappy trip along too, I have no idea what instagram is, I figured that I don't need one more thing to occupy my time! LOL

Love your Easy Street. The blocks in the last picture looks like they are for a scrappy trip around the world.

Those are nice, bright colors to be working on when it's cold and snowy outside! Beautiful!

Having done Bonnie's Easy Street myself, with Bonnie's color choices, I LOVE to see how the quilts come out for the ones that went with their own color choices. And yours is a WINNER in my book! Great job!

I love that first quilt. The colors are fabulous. The blocks for the second project are a version I hadn't seen before. I'll have to check out the link.
Take care.

Love that color scheme of Easy Street....according to Alycia, and this post on her blog http://www.alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/2013/01/design-wall-monday.html the people who participated in her QOV block drive are responsible for the scrappy trips! If you find a good tute on Instagram let me know!

Your quilt is lovely...but I was really enthralled with your helper. Wish mine would help me more. That picture is so cute.

You know the other day when I was working on my Easy Street quilt my cat was jumping all over my stuff. At one time she even came in through the back of the machine to steal the thread from me. She will also find her walking along my longarm poles. Boy they can sure find "Trouble" with a capital T, can't they.

Simon is such a cute dickens! Love the pic of him under the ES quilt with only his tail showing! Funny.
Your Trip blocks are wonderful. I am making them too. Don't know how the craze began, but it's all fun.

I just love how your Easy Street came out and I so understand the "help" though mine walk and talk. I usually have to do things like that while they are in school. I too avoid Facebook and have never ventured into Twitter or Instagram so I have no clue.

LOL at Simon! I had a beautiful sealpoint that was Simon the Siamese (named by my daughter's BFF in 5th grade and it stuck!). Still miss him. Your Easy Street color palate is one of my favorite alternates. So striking.

Simon is such a great helper I don't know how you get anything done without him. I have successfully avoided starting the Scrappy Trip Around the World. I have too many UFOs to keep me busy. Your blocks look great.
