Scrappy Batik Mug Rug

Pin It I love working with batiks and used some scraps to make this little mug rug. Do you like love batiks? It seems like quilters either love them or hate them.

I just can't seem to throw away a batik scrap....of any size!

Here are some little pieces I sewed together for a journal cover.....hmmmm...I forgot to show this and...I gave it to my grandson for Christmas. Somewhere on my computer there must be a photo of it...sigh....time to cleanup my files.
More batik scraps sewn together
I have just a few more scraps left.....

We had a wonderful dinner last night with our friends and I think we are getting old....we left at 3:00 pm and we were back home by 7:30 and.....it was a 45 minute drive each way. I did get some quilting done before we left and my quilt room is a mess.

Today Builder Bob wants to go to a movie and see either Lincoln or Zero Dark Thirty......I see popcorn in my future! Enjoy your day!

Oh you know I LOVE batiks!!! Your scrap box is temptation indeed - how do you keep from playing in it all the time? I'm on a mug rug kick, they're really fun to whip up. I especially love yours in these bright batiks of course!

I do love batiks, even though I am such a traditional quilter and reproduction lover. Hubby and I saw Lincoln, marvelous. Our son and grandson saw Zero Dark Thirty said it was also wonderful.

I love batiks! I keep all my scraps from them in bins all by themselves so they are easy to find (but I don't think I have quite as many as you do, haha). Love the colors in your mug rug. Have fun at the movies!

I like batiks, but don't love them. The mug rug is fun, and a pretty good way to practice free motion quilting while still making something pretty and practical.

I so understand the maybe we are gettin older thing. We just got back from meeting friends for breakfast for our Christmas gift exchange. It is so much easier to get together early in the day rather than late.

I do love batiks and now that I've looked at your mug rug maybe thats what I will do with my afternoon.

I will admit I am a not a big fan of batiks. I did buy a lot when I first started quilting but I gave them all to my daughter who loves them.

I love the mug rug - very cute! I was never interested in batiks until I acquired some when a quilter sold her stash. They sat for awhile, but when I started to cut into them, it was love, love, love! To me the variations in the fabric make it seem alive - so much fun to work with! I noticed that you used a color to do your quilting! How did you select the color of thread?

Lovely mug rug. I don't either love or hate batiks, but that said they are not usually my first choice. I always go for florals if I can fit them in the project.

I wanna go!!! I love movie popcorn!!

I have it on the agenda to use up my batiks this year. They have been on the shelf far long enough!

And if I use them up, then I can buy more. :)

I love batiks. Can't buy them in Greece, but get some from Holland when I go, or some friends of mine bring them. The mug rug looks great!

LOVE batiks and I LOVE your mug rug too! Zero Dark Thirty hasn't arrived in my neck of nowhere yet but I did see Lincoln after Thanksgiving and loved it. I'm hoping to catch Life of Pi which is now showing nearby (at last!) this week.

I'll have to join you on the batik line. I love them. Your basket of batik scraps look as though they will provide you with more than a few good projects.

I love the batiks in your mug rug!! Batiks are hit or miss with me. I see the ones you use and think yummy but then I see others and don't care for them. Just bought a stash load in of Hoffman hand dyes. I love using those, they are so versatile
I like how you've done a different FM stitch in each segment :) Ellyx
ps I've posted a picture of the little sleeping bag on my blog. I had a lot of fun making it. Thank you again for the tutorial :)
