Hugs & Kisses Day Two

Pin It Thank you Jane of Jane's Fabrics and Quilts for being our awesome cheerleader for the Hugs & Kisses blog hop and of course no one does a better job of organizing blog hops than Madame Samm of Sew We Quilt!

This is my own design called Crazy Hearts and I had hoped to have a pattern done but.....it hasn't happened yet. I used all batiks and I've been on a little flower kick lately.....this is my third floral piece this month!
Crazy Hearts at Freemotion by the River
I pulled out my batik scraps of pinks and reds and made some "fabric" that I used for my hearts.
Creating fabric from scraps
If you haven't been here before, I do all of my applique with my vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine which only has a straight stitch. The applique is done free motion.
Yesterday I decided to pull out some paints and work with a new stencil. I used a stencil by Margaret Applin called Heart Striped.
Heart Striped stencil
I outlined the heart and was going to do a ruffle around and all of a sudden I was doing feathers.....not very good feathers.....too late to stop...so I kept going and going.....
stencil next to quilted piece
Once I realized I ruined the stencil look I decided to just stop with a small piece that will hang on my wall as a reminder of what NOT to do. I forgot how much I enjoy stenciling so I will do more!

This is a cute Twister Heart tutorial that I posted last week so people would have a chance to make it before Valentine's Day......I've already seen several that have been made so I'm glad I posted it early. There is a .pdf file that you can download.
A heart table runner I did last year and the tutorial is - here

Thanks for stopping by and be sure and visit everyone else that is taking part in the blog hop today!

I like your crazy batik flower hearts. I made some like that a year or so ago and just found them because I hadn't done anything with the hearts. Too late to use for this blog hop, but I did just finish one. The heart flowers look like the wild bleeding hearts that grew in our yard when we lived in Washington state.
