Flower Maze Pillow

I always enjoy making pillows to match my quilts.

The other day I did a post on the Garden Maze quilt and a tutorial on the block. I also showed some different blocks I had made using string pieced centers with applique. Well, I decided to make that quilt my UFO (unfinished object) for March and finally get it finished.

Last month my UFO was the Garden Maze quilt and I waited until the last day of the month to finally get it finished and posted. So I decided this month to get the quilt done right away! Hmmmm, wonder if that means my April UFO won't get done until the end of that month.....

Monday morning this is what I had finished, my helpers even let me know that one block was upside down.....what would I do without them! I finished up the quilt on Tuesday but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see it. We had almost 5 inches of snow and you know I had to venture out with my quilt. I think the neighbor thought I was crazy.

Okay, back to the pillow. I had one block left over so I trimmed off the corners.

Then I added some of the dark green to the new corners so the flower is sitting nice and pretty.

I like to use old sheets for the inside backing on my pillows. Our pillows always end up being washed and this covers the batting. I forgot to take a photo of the backside of the finished pillow which is the dark green print.

Now if you are still reading here is a little sneak peek at tomorrow.....the white spots are snow and that is me with this crazy idea I had.
Crazy quilter in the snow - Freemotion by the River
You know how you see all those neat photos of spirals in the snow.....well I decided to make one.....and did that poop me out! After I got it done (walking it about 3 times) I then had to get my quilt and then walk it again for the photos. Builder Bob thought I was crazy and who knows what the neighbor watching from his window thought. Both pictures are the same photo.

My plan was to do the spiral and then lay the quilt in the center and take photos from our deck. Well I guess I needed to be higher because the angle wasn't right. I didn't want to zoom in as I would lose the spiral. I also was doing this at the wrong time of day for lighting. I thought I was going to have a heart attack walking in the circles......Builder Bob thought he was going to freeze to death....
Quilt in the snow
When I finally went back to get my quilt I cheated and jumped the rows....I had to laugh when I saw this as I didn't know Bob took it. Now you know why I'm tired and you'll have to wait until tomorrow for better photos of the quilt.

We got blasted with snow too. Your spiral reminds me of the crop circles! Looks like fun and I'll bet the neighbors wished they were outside playing too!

LOL - you go Girl! I love it! Rarely do we get to see pictures of what we go through in order to GET pictures. Builder Bob gets brownie points for taking them and hopefully you got a mug of hot tea to warm you up! See, quilters get exercise! :)

GORGEOUS pillow Connie. I really love that quilt using the flowers. So pretty.

I had to laugh when I saw you in that snow and can just picture you trying to make those huge circles. LOL I bet you would have thought twice had you been in our area. We ended up with just under 10 inches of new snow yesterday. wheeee I am SO happy we bought hubby that monster snowblower a few years back. He never could have cleared our driveway with that old one we had when he moved here.

I love how you sacrifice for your art and to bring us great pictures It's snowing here in NY today. So far it's not enough to make spirals.
It was a great idea to trim the corners of the block to make the pillow. The addition of the corners really makes it pop.

I should come and play outside with you. But I have to warn you...I'm notorious for starting snow ball fights!!
