I’m continuing to work on my Texas Teardrops blocks that I’ve shown in the last couple of posts.
In the directions Vicki tells us to cut accurately…….notice anything with this block?
I did a pretty good job of cutting accurately….what I didn’t do was trace accurately. Sometimes I used a pencil, sometimes I used a sharpie. My tracing lines were kind of free form. Vicki did say something about having a glass of wine while working on this…..hmmmm…..maybe I had 2 glasses…
If you really, really wanted accuracy I think cutting the first templates out of plastic would have been the way to go and then trace around them. I’m not concerned, I think with the quilting and shrinkage after washing that this won’t be that noticeable.
Someone asked me if I turned under the edges or did raw edge – this is all raw edge and there will be very little fraying after washing as all of the edges are on the bias. If you ever saw my Bullseye quilts these are all raw edge applique and I really like the way they looked after washing and drying.
The April Showers blog hop continues this week and my day is Thursday the 17th when I’ll share my mug rug with you.
Next Monday, the 22nd the EQ Appliqued Animals blog hop will begin. I’ll be showing my project on the first day. You’ll have to check this out and there will be giveaways going on too!
I think my blog is showing up again in Readers! Sweet Deb from Stitchin’ Therapy said she had sent a email to blogger letting them know I wasn’t showing up……that just might have helped!
I was also pretty impressed with bloglovin’ – I think I signed up with them about a year or so ago so I could follow a couple blogs and unknowingly had my “Follow” going to my Tutorials page. I tried to figure out how to change it and finally sent a email to them for help and they changed it for me! Now that is wonderful customer service!
