I haven’t been blogging much this week….but I’ve been having fun! The Mississippi river flood waters are going down, the barges are going up and down the river and the boaters are out.
Builder Bob’s boat is almost finished and ready for it’s maiden voyage. In the mean time we spent time on the river in my brother’s mud boat, here we are leaving home behind and heading across the river into the Mississippi river sloughs.
We were able to go in parts of the Wildlife and Fish Refuge that would normally not have enough water to be in. My brother’s mud boat doesn’t need much water……we went right through this.
I wasn’t crazy to see these……..snakes!! Yuck, I just don’t care for them. Can you see that there are actually 3 snakes? They aren’t poisonous but I’m not getting too close to them.
Elephant Ear mushrooms….I think. They were on a large log that was floating and even had some small plants starting to grow on it. In another week or two this log will be sitting on land…muddy land.
I think they are checking things out so they can come back and fish.
I saw a bush with these beautiful flowers on it……aren’t they neat! We aren’t sure what they were and after finding this one…..we saw the bushes everywhere. I’ll have to find out what they are and if it is a tree or bush.
Look at the different stages of growth.
I had to get a photo of the eagle’s nest. It has been here for years and is still used. It is about 6 feet across…..a little hard to see this time of year and no eagles were around.
One last photo of me…..notice anything different? I got a haircut….short and I love it. Looks like I’ll have to redo my header and photo. Enjoy your day………I’m heading back outside and tomorrow I’ll share what I’ve been quilting.
