Ramblin Woods Bear Quilt

Here is a quilt that I finished up that definitely makes me think of autumn! I’m calling it Ramblin Bear and it was fun and fast to put together.Ramblin Woods Bear Quilt
Did you notice the grass along the river…..we haven’t mowed in over a month as there has been very little rain. Last night it finally started cooling down and we turned off the air conditioning and opened the windows…now for some rain!

I found this pattern at Moda Bake Shop called Simply Style Stacked  and decided I had a fun bundle of fabrics that would be perfect for this.

My quilt is 64 x 72 after being washed and dried. The actual size was 68 x 76 according to the pattern but I can’t imagine it shrunk that much….maybe I should have pulled a little more when I was measuring it…..

I had this very old and neat camouflage fabric that I am sure I bought eons ago for a quilt for one of my brothers. I added the leftover pieces of Ramblin to the back also.

I did have to lay the blocks out on my living room floor and then carefully pick up a couple, sew a couple together….put them back on the floor and repeat, repeat, repeat. This was one of those great exercise quilts.

This little bear is in the center of the quilt. I did quilt this on my 15-91 singer that is in the frame and you can see I did a pretty big free motion meandering.

These fun fabrics were a gift from Rina of Crickets Corner. She won a huge fat quarter set of them last year and couldn’t decide what to make with them so….she sent them to me. Thanks Rina!! She also finally started blogging so if you have a sec please stop over and say hi.

I had to go digging in my selvage bag to find out the name of the fabrics, it is Ramblin’ Woods by Jacqueline Decker. I also found the selvage from the camo fabric which I evidently have had for quite some time. The binding was another oldie….it is actually little green roses but if you don’t know they are roses….you won’t know.

What a great quilt! I love the colors and the pattern and the theme! I used that Camo fabric when I made a quilt for our boy to take to college. He requested a camo quilt and I used the bear paw block.
