Log Cabin Deer Pillow
This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share a commission.Have you ever made an appliqued pillow? I like to add applique to a quilt block so the background isn’t boring. I think you will like the Log Cabin Deer Pillow.
When I heard about the blog hop being “For the Boys” I knew right away that I wanted to make a couple of pillows for……the brothers. I have several brothers who love hunting and anything with deer, ducks, geese, etc. is always a hit with them. We do a White Elephant exchange at Christmas and I think the deer pillows will be my gift.
Log Cabin Deer Pillow
I couldn’t make just one…….I made a bunch of log cabin blocks and appliqued the deer on them.
Here is a closeup of the applique, I like to do a free motion squiggle, wiggle, or just a straight stitch.
This brown leaf fabric was perfect for the backs.

Those are great cushions – the boys are gonna love them.
Connie ~ that pillow is awesome. My FIL and the other men from one part of the family where we used to go for Thanksgiving all went out hunting deer after the meal. Unfortunately he's had to stop hunting just in the past two years because of a health problem, but he would love this pillow or anything made from that.
I already put that one on my wish list for now over at your store. I am already following your store there too. 🙂
I have some grandsons that would love that pillow!
Hi Connie I like this one..I come every day to see what you are doing…I am just learning and have learned a lot from your blog…your things are so pretty…I love mug rugs too and make one every chance I get – to practice corners and quilting….have a good sunday and happy creating…Jolene /Texas

Hi Connie! I lovve your deer pillows and mug rug! 'White elephant' is far from deers and hunting – I haven't heard that before – I guess it's tradition before Christmas! Thank you so much for sharing! x Teje
Awesome pillow! Great quilt. Log cabins are forever favorites!

Oh wowsers! Those brothers of yours better like them…or you can send them to me in Texas!
That should be a perfect choice for the White Elephant draw. Do you separate things out so the girls are in one group and the boys in another or everything is the luck of the draw? Well done, Connie!
As usual you have created something wonderful! These are really nice and so fitting for this blog. Thanks for sharing your creations with us today.
I love the deer on the log cabin background. Your brothers are going to love them too.
your deer are very dear! If I won that amazing mug rug, I would have to give it to my Pastor, who called me in to his office to show me a Christmas tree ( I decorate a lot of trees) He said he's never been too excited about a tree but I had to see the one he made- out of antlers. It is very cool and that little rug would be great with it! : )Fantastic Job!
Connie. Those are awesome Log Cabin Deer. Beautiful work. That is certainly very masculine for our hop today. And congrats for winning a place of honor at Madame Samm's page!
I already follow you on Craftsy.
I saw this pattern on Craftsy and thought it would be perfect for my MIL's sun room . A great place to sit and watch the deer and other critters wander through her garden.
Love the deer. I love watching the deer in our yard as they eat from our apple tree. Love the deer pillow. Good job.

Great pillows. I have not always been a fan of browns but then saw a flannel quilt in all brown batiks. Now I love them. SO your log cabin in wonderful and I love the deer on them.
Good morning, Connie. Your pillows are really awesome–just perfect for the hunter in my family. I love the design and the quilting. My grandson loves to hunt and fish. He goes every hunting season to kill a deer. Since we have them roaming around on our property and I love to watch them, I give a speech every year about not killing MY deer I even threaten him with making him watch "Bambi" before he goes. But he just laughs. Do you think this year he would settle for a pillow instead? LOL
Connie, very nice projects for the men not just the boys in the crowd and you know I have a bunch. Thanks for the inspiration as always.
Marvelous idea. The log cabin blocks gives the deer a neat background.
The dear mug rug would be a hit with my son the deer hunter.

Connie I always enjoy your work. It is not only creative but also useful.
Connie I absolutely love your deer pillows! Your deer is very stately! And throw pillows always need more than one or they look very lonely. Besides, you cannot possibly hope to win a pillow fight with only one pillow. One is only good for a sneak attack. Love the quilt too. Thanks so much for sharing your inspiring pillows…and the generosity of your giveaway as well!
