Batiks in the snow

Yesterday was a perfect day to go outside and take a picture of a quilted project……beautiful snow on the ground.

Batiks in the snow

I used some pieces of blue and creme batiks that I cut into 1 1/4-inch strips. I couldn’t remember what size I started with in the center so I tried a 5-inch strip. The placemat turned out a little small so I added another row of dark and light and it ended up about 12 x 14.

At that point, I decided it would just be a table topper and there wouldn’t be a tutorial.  I then decided to add a little extra to it and pulled out my Sizzix Big Shot and a flourish die.

I had the perfect match in the thread. This is one of the spools of Aurifil thread I won in the Aurifil Designer of the Month, I included a link below in case you wanted to finish up a block before the end of the year.

Batiks in the snow

I think it makes a great little centerpiece!

Do you sometimes forget things you have made? When I saw this post from last year I thought wow…..I want some of those for myself! I guess I’ll add this to my list for 2014.
