Craftsy Block of the Month 2014

Pin It Have you seen the free 2014 Block of the Month class at Craftsy? I decided it might be fun to sign up for it.....especially since it is free.

What do you think of my first block?

The class deal with color theory so even if you don't want to make the quilt you might enjoy and learn from the FREE class.

This will be a challenge for me because I usually use white, brown or black in my quilts to give the eye a place to rest. If you can see the quilt in the button below......all the blocks go together in a way that looks busy, busy to me. I have a hard time doing this so by taking this class I am hoping to create a quilt that is fun and a learning experience.

Conquer your fear of color with the 2014 Craftsy Block Of The Month!

Craftsy has a beautiful bundle of Michael Miller Batiks that you can purchase for the class which includes 10 yards of fabric.
I would really like to buy it but I have a pretty good stash of batiks and hopefully I can find some colors that work.

This month the color lesson is on analogous colors and I pulled out some blues and greens to work with. If you don't like batiks you can use regular fabrics.

Very simple, just cut some strips making some stratas and then cut into pieces.

I need to make 6 blocks........they are BIG blocks....I have 3 done so far. Are you taking this class?

I have finally gotten our new internet service figured out and had a month where I didn't go over our usage. Our month starts on the 16th. Guess when I watch my Craftsy classes? Between 2 am and 8 am which is our extra time. I also have a little meter on my computer to help me keep an eye on what I'm doing. By the way, I also got our anti-virus software installed on all our computers, life is good.

Commit to learning a new skill in the new year.

Good for you, Connie. I signed up for that 2014 BOM but I'm also signed up for 16 other classes at Craftsy. My new year's resolution? Use the classes I already have. LOL
Your batik stash looks like it could rival the bundle Craftsy is selling.

I'm so glad that the computers are sorted out and working well. That is always such a relief.

The fabrics you are using are so pretty. It sounds like a great idea too.

You have great batiks and certainly no problem with color. I have a couple of free classes that I should really take a look at - I forget about them.

Your blocks are very pretty, and it's good that you have plenty of batiks in your stash.

Love your batiks you chose. I've never heard of limited internet access except on a phone. Here in Washington State you just pay a flat monthly fee for service to your home and you have unlimited service. Good luck with the BOM.

Thanks for the ideas your share here
So far, I am looking for a source of reference on various websites
Now I have found what I was looking for all this time
I keep the spirit to strive to be the best, one of which is a reference from your idea that really helped me.
Once again I want to say thank you

I am not a BOM fan usually because they don't seem to flow together-but this one is beautiful! Love your fabric choices. I am going to save the lessons-just can't add one more thing to my list this year-will enjoy watching you put your version together!

Hi Connie, I signed up too. You are ways further along than I am. I guess I will have to keep up with Connie!

Love your blue and green fabrics and the progress you have made. I really do need to take the course because I know nothing about color and design. I just fake it as I go and sometimes the outcome is yucky.
