Purple String Appliqued Flower Block

I just finished up my purple block for this month’s Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I never used to like purple that much but anymore it is growing on me.
Notice how the white string is very noticeable in the photo, when I was string piecing it I didn’t notice this. So many times you can really see things like this when you take a photo. A black and white photo will really show the light and dark fabrics in a block

Here is a closeup of the raw edge applique that I did. Using coordinating fabrics makes it easy to design blocks and a quilt.
The post wouldn’t be complete without showing all the blocks so far. You can also see some of the other blocks I have made using purple quilt fabrics.
We are off to the lumber store this morning……Builder Bob will start working on a deck in a couple weeks and tomorrow is the last day of a great sale on wood. He will be sorting the wood for 125 good boards…..this will take a couple hours. The wood will then be taken to the job site and I’ll make him take me to lunch. Enjoy your day!
I have continued to make the appliqued flower string blocks and here are a few more of them plus some other posts I think you will like.

Your flower blocks are just beautiful! Hope you don't get too many splinters sorting through all those boards. Have a great lunch!
Looking good. I love the way you appliqued the purple flower. When I first saw it, I thought of pleated petals but it's just the stitching. Pleasant surprise!
Connie, how did I miss these?!! They are just so original and charming. What a fab way to show the colors. LeeAnna Paylor lapaylor.blogspot.com
Love your flower blocks!!! A beautiful rainbow of colors…just like the perfect garden!
Connie, it seems like a fair exchange to me–a couple hours sorting wood for lunch. Wait, maybe you deserve dinner too!!!?
The purple block looks great! I don't think the white strip looks out of place at all. Plays nicely with the others. Pictures are funny.
