River Squares Pillows

I made a couple of brown batik pillows that will go along with the River Squares quilt. I didn’t use the same block pattern. This is more of a log cabin style block that I think I used the remaining 5-inch squares and 2½-inch strips left over from the quilt.

Today I am taking these pillows to their new home. Remember the River Squares quilts I made…..the brown one made from Island Batik fabrics is in LeClaire, Iowa on my friend’s couch and I finally bought pillow forms for the matching pillows. I like to buy them when they are 50% off.

I really liked this quilt hanging in a tree. I also made another River Square quilt in brown batiks that was a wheelchair lap quilt.

I took my pictures outside on the deck…..no cushions on the furniture yet.

I had this fun brown fabric for the back and a border. Builder Bob is building a huge deck and has been in LeClaire all weekend. I am taking the grandkids home Saturday afternoon and then driving up for dinner and drinks and a sleepover so I have this post scheduled to post Sunday morning.

I’ll be sure and take my camera and show the deck progress and the beautiful view of the river from their house.

The current is really moving on the Mississippi and the pelicans are enjoying a free ride. I could barely get outside with my camera before they were out of view. No fear…..there will always be more. It is amazing to realize that 30 years ago there weren’t any around here.

Someone came out on the deck while I was taking pictures……my granddaughter!
