Scrappy Yellow quilt block with applique flower
This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share a commission.Yellow is the color for this month’s Rainbow Scrap Challenge so I made one of my flower blocks in……yellow. Having all the center blocks made just waiting for the applique really makes this fast and easy to do.
I finished up my block, took pictures and then….I was resizing in Photoshop and realized something looked wrong about my block. The top row was put on backwards. Have you ever had that happen? It seems like I always catch my errors in a photo.
Thank goodness for the seam ripper! Here is what the block is supposed to look like!
So far I have 6 blocks made, I think this is going to be a beautiful quilt!
I also have the spool blocks that I made last year, I like them too and I have a quilt in mind….just need to get it made.
This is going to be a beautiful quilt!
Love your flowers! I agree that they are going to make a great quilt.
The flower blocks are adorable!
Love those flower blocks! So cheerful!
Beautiful blocks, your flowers are lovely and the spool blocks are a favourite of mine.
Your blog is really great, I'm over every day and each time I find something that suits me. This blog has a lot of friendliness and warm hospitality. Thank you very much.

These are all so lovely!
Wow your flower blocks are looking great.
I love how your flower garden is growing each month. I take pictures so I can see my errors =). I never see it laid out but for some reason it usually jumps out at me when I look at it as a picture.
Connie these blocks are so gorgeous! I love the pieced backgrounds.
Those flower blocks are fabulous! LOVE how they look all together. And you bet I make those mistakes. This last week I made 8 blocks for the block of the month for Aussie Heroes, and I made fatal errors on 4 of them. Not. A. Good. track record. Can only say I was doing them in a hurry LOL
These flower blocks are very clever. Are they your own design? The finished quilt will be very pretty.
Beautiful flower blocks. This going to be an awesome quilt.
Oh my gosh, I love those flower blocks! Really gorgeous!
Love your blocks! I was with Kathy I thought you had done both wrong, till I see that you changed the position of the values on the blocks. Those flowers are just darling!
I always catch things from a photo if I haven't caught them before 🙂 One of my earliest teachers told us to always take a photo before we sandwich or prepare a quilt for quilting for that very reason 🙂 Your yellow flower sparkles in there with the rest! Brightens the group of them up beautifully!
This will be a beautiful quilt , I love those scrappy flowers !
Your flower blocks look great! You are going to end up with one really beautiful quilt! I like your spool blocks. Great use of narrow strips.
When I saw the first block, I thought it was gorgeous. Then when I saw them all together I said "WOW." Amazing.
Your blocks are beautiful!
I really can't wait to see the whole flower quilt you are designing! Yep I spent some $$$ at the quilt show and need to get busy now and am anxious to do so!!
I love scrappy quilts and this one will be awesome! I love they way you are using the same center and flower design for each center but doing them in the different colors. Very nice!
I just love your flower blocks!
Terrific, happy flower!
Good work on the spools. Looking forward to seeing what they will become. What great colour when you see them all together. It will be gorgeous!
Your flower blocks are so pretty. Cant wait to see how these all come together. with the flower blocks I really love the back ground fabrics, they give the block dimension yet allow the flower to pop.
Photos are a great way to find our mistakes. Unfortunately. 🙁
Your flower blocks are going to make a stunning quilt!
I just caught a mistake in a photo too! Hello Mr Seam Ripper…
Those flower blocks are wonderful!
I love those flower blocks.
Beautiful blocks, love the flowers.
I was going to say that you had both the top and bottom messed up until I saw that you have switched up the pieces and values in each of the other blocks. Your inventiveness always amazes me.
Nice yellows, Connie. It is amazing how many times I find mistakes in photos too.
Your flower blocks are gorgeous. What a stunning quilt you have will have when you're all done.
It is going to be a beautiful quilt! Each block is pretty on its own, but all together — wow.
