I am taking part in the 2015 Free-motion Quilting Challenge that Darlene at QuiltShopGal is hosting. Option #1 was to use Molly Hanson’s book. I recently reviewed Free-Motion Quilting For Beginners and Those Who Think They Can’t by Molly Hanson and decided to try her paisley free-motion quilting pattern. I have a huge box of orphan blocks so I just pulled one out and added some muslin borders to make it big enough for a pillow.
It was fun to try the paisley design…….no I didn’t do it in the center squares…..I had a hard enough time getting it right in the border and sometimes…..I forgot where I was going.
I like the design but it took me longer and more thread than stippling. I definitely will try this pattern on a large quilt and do it larger.
A little tip for you when making a pillow……double check that you have the right side to the inside before sewing the darn thing together…..thank goodness for my seam ripper.
I wanted to finish the pillow with a zipper and didn’t have any cream ones so I used a lavender one and made a concealed flap to hide it.
I planned on doing a tutorial on it but…..the photos didn’t turn out too well with all the muslin so I will still have to get that done. I have a couple other pillows to show this week but just did the envelope on them.
