Freemotion Feathers in Pink

I wanted to practice quilting feathers so I made another pillow……yes…..I know I have many, many pillows. I used a stencil that I have had for quite a while.

I don’t have a lot of solids in my stash and this pink fabric must have been really, really old. Here you can see the pillow after I washed and dried it.

Here is the stencil I used. It is a 8″ Feather Wreath with inserts. I bought it about 5 years ago from a quilt store in Kalona, Iowa and…..I have only used it a couple times but I really do like it. You can change the center design. I looked online and found Quilting Creations which carries a lot of stencils including the 12 inch one like this. I put the link here because there were several neat stencils I just might have to order.

For the last couple of days I have been pattern writing…….for me that means remaking the sample several times…..here is a peek of my new design Aruba Sunset in different colors. My studio has fabric and papers all over the place and…..that is what I’ll be working on again today unless……my neighbor decides to come over. Then we will “play” with my new AccuQuilt GO! Big.

Sew Pretty in Pink. This reminds me of the solid colored satin baby quilts my Aunt would make and do all hand quilting for the designs. Lovely Sunsets pieces…

Nice feathering Connie! I even recognize/have that green/blue batik in the center of your Aruba block 🙂

  10. Hey…I have that same template, but I know my quilting would never turn out as gorgeous as yours is! 🙂

  11. Gorgeous pillow. I have a similar round feather stencil with the crosshatch in the middle. I've only tried it with hand quilting so far.

Looking forward to seeing the whole design that the new block is from. It's really a great looking block.

  12. That pillow is just gorgeous!

Connie, your quilting on the pillow is just gorgeous! Just goes to show that we can never keep fabric for too long in our stash! Love the blocks for your new design. The fabrics are lovely that you are using.
