I am so excited to share my newest pattern called Blue Sapphire with you today! This pattern uses just one simple quilt block.

It is always fun to hang a quilt from the Red Bud tree outside.

Blue Sapphire is my newest pattern that is now available in my shop.. The pattern includes plenty of color diagrams and also directions to make just one block. (My testers really liked having this step included)

If you go to the International Quilt Show in Minneapolis, MN this week you will see my Blue Sapphire quilt in the Island Batik booth. The pattern and fabrics will be available for stores to kit. I won’t be there but would love to see photos!

Notice the ice and snow……I took the photos in January before shipping off my quilt to Island Batik.

The batiks that I used are from the Meadow Collection by Kathy Engle for Island Batik. I always print a label on my ink jet printer and attach it to the back of my quilt before it goes to market.

I have found a great place for photos…..my neighbor has a metal building and I put a couple magnets inside the quilt sleeve and was able to hang the quilt for photos. I remember it was cold that day….hopefully it will be warmer when I take photos of three more quilts next week.

I used Aurifil thread for the free-motion quilting that I did on my 15-91 Singer sewing machine.

I even had a little help when I was taking photos……notice the feet….

I always like to share a photo showing the difference that quilting makes.

I have included info on several ways to make them.

  • I have included templates that can be traced and cut out with clear plastic
  • Use the AccuQuilt die #554410
  • Use the Tri-Rec rulers
  • I also included a foundation paper piece template which is very easy to use

Here is a closeup of the block. I had some wonderful testers make up the pattern and fortunately….they all loved it. There are Triangle in a Square blocks in my pattern and once you have them made the rest is a breeze.

I originally designed this block when I made a baby quilt using the Marblehead fabrics. I also have a tutorial on the Blue Sapphire quilt block that you can checkout.

    Hello Connie:
I just purchased your “Blue Sapphire Quilt” pattern, and look forward to making a quilt from this pattern. I happen to have just the right batiks for this project, in fact to make more than one quilt!!
Thank you, Connie, for sharing your beautiful yet uncomplicated patterns with us.

  4. Thank you for not having embedded posts, or I couldn't comment! I love the quilt and the colors you used. Builder Bob looks so cute in his "Kilroy was here" pose. I'm excited that you quilt on a 15-91!

Blue Sapphire is quite the stunning Heartthrob Quilt. Your work is always perfection and the label on the back is brilliant. I do like seeing your quilting vs. plain and the difference is amazing. Lucky Island Batik for finding you my dear…

  9. What a beautiful quilt! I love the changes in colour arrangement in the blocks, and the straightforward block design.

  10. Beautiful Connie! Love all the pictures and so proud of you at being at the quilt market! Great Job

  11. What a gorgeous quilt Connie! I think this might be my favorite one so far. This pattern was just put on my wish list. Lots of projects in line already to make, but this might have to push a few back a couple notches.

Congrats on it being shown in the booth in MN! I'm sure it will draw people to their booth quite a lot.

  12. Gorgeous! Wish I could see it in person in MPLS, but work gets in the way. I am going to try out this block in some other batik colors I have. Maybe I should do them in a rainbow of colors and put together with the orange one I already made. 🙂

  13. Blue Sapphire is gorgeous! The colors just pop and the design really shows off the batiks you used. Beautiful.

  14. I really love being able to see so many photos of Blue Sapphire Connie – it's a beautiful quilt! I especially the shots of before and after quilting!
Neat idea to use magnets to photograph on a metal building.
As one of your happy testers, I would like to add that not only was this a fun pattern to make, (Very well written and organized!) but that you take the extra step of including more than one way to sew the block. Very cool!

I appreciate the fact that you include multiple methods for making the triangle blocks.
