Our weather has been beautiful so we have been working outside in the yard all week…..not much quilting going on. I cut some Coral Bells (because they were in the way of our project) and decided they were pretty enough for our table. I put the vase of flowers on a dish rug that I made a couple years ago. You can find the tutorial for it here. We use it on the center of the table for hot plates.
Here is what we worked on yesterday….a new brick sidewalk! See the plants under the deck by the bench? Those are the Coral Bells which were hanging over the brick path.
Here is what my brick path looked like in the morning. Ten years ago I laid one row of the bricks and then two…or three years ago I laid another row and my plan was to redo the path but…..it never happened. I made all kinds of excuses but honestly….the bricks were just too heavy and too much work.
Builder Bob came up with the idea of having someone young and strong help move the bricks. My nephew moved over fifty bricks yesterday while Bob made sure they lined up and were level.
Beautiful new path! It is time to move Bob’s trailer to the back so it doesn’t block our view of the river. This was a neat DIY project!
Here you can see it from the back steps, I’ll put in another plant on the left and more mulch. I love it!
This looks perfect!
This photos shows how some of the bricks have sunk.
We plan on working on this side of the house today unless it rains…..if it rains….I’ll get some quilting done! I have been moving tomato plants, weeding, planting new flowers……just enjoying the perfect weather. Once it gets hot and humid…..I stay in the house.
