I worked on the Kaleidoscope design that I showed you the other day.

Flower Fields Kaleidoscope

I had printed it out on four different pieces of fabric and now it was time to sew them together. On several of them, I had less than a quarter-inch seam allowance so I was very, very careful sewing them.

I know I will do a dense free-motion quilting on the design so I’m not worried about it coming apart.

I will probably hang this piece in my quilt room when it is done so I didn’t want to make it too big. I added a 1 1/2-inch border of orange batik first.

Then I added a 3 1/2 inch border of this beautiful batik from the Flower Field collection by Island Batik. I’m not completely sure if it is the same fabric that I used when I made the feathered design in Kaleidoscope Kreator 3 but…..I’m close.

I had some of the beautiful batiks left over from my Summer Flowers quilt and they worked perfectly with this feather design.

Summer Flowers is a 44″ x 60″ inch quilt that combined string piecing and flower applique. There are 10 full-size flowers in my pattern. The fabrics are batiks from Island Batik called the Flower Fields collection.

Our weather has been beautiful and we spent time this weekend out on the Mississippi river with friends.

Here is a view of our house from the river. It won’t be long and the leaves will be changing color and starting to fall…….my favorite time of year.

I sure wish this load of sand was coming to our place! We were surprised that not many boats were out this weekend. When we stopped at the beach there was only one other boat there

I know this is an older post, but I just came across it. I have the software!! And I actually bought machine embroidery software for the feathers. I have only played with it and haven’t made anything yet, but yours is so pretty I might just have to plan a pillow!

After seeing those pieces in you previous post, I wondered how you would put them together. It turned out gorgeous! If it were hanging in my sunroom, I never get any sewing done; I'd just sit and look at it. Looks like you live in a fun place. —"Love"
