Quilting Flower Fields Kaleidoscope

I am quilting my Flower Fields Kaleidoscope wall hanging that I showed you here and I can’t wait to get it finished. This was made using Kaleidoscope Kreator 3 and Island Batik fabrics.

I washed the fabrics to remove some of the sizing that was on the fabric sheets….the fabric is still a little stiff but I’m not having any trouble free motion quilting it. I’m using Glide thread which has a sheen to it….I’ve been using it a lot lately as I really like that look. A perfectionist I am NOT. My plan at first was to outline each and every teeny tiny feather with red thread…..I tried going around one feather…..(I don’t do slow free motion quilting very well, I’m speedy) and it looked awful so I ripped it out and switched to a cream color which is much more forgiving.

Flower Fields is lovely! And wise choice to go back to beige for outlining–using the background color is a bit more forgiving. And gotta love Glide thread–love the bit of shine!
