Welcome to my day on the You Can Quilt! Building Skills For Beginners Blog Hop. The Island Batik Ambassadors are taking part in this blog hop and will be sharing information on this great book by Marlene Oddie & Leila Gardunia. We are all using Island Batik fabrics in our projects and of course….there will be prizes!
You Can Quilt! Building Skills for Beginners is a perfect book for beginners or anyone wanting to sharpen their skills at quilting. If you have never quilted, this book contains all the information you would need to build a solid foundation in quilting. They include information on fabric and the supplies that you will need to complete the quilt. Color values, ironing…..they have it all covered.
There will be 13 blogs taking part and each one will show you a different Skill Builder from the book.
I used the beautiful Tuscany Sun collection from Island Batik and I also used a Neutral called Batter for my background. Aren’t these perfect colors for fall! This is part of Island Batik’s new Fall/Winter collection that will be released at International Quilt Market October 24-26 in Houston, TX.
played worked with Skill Builder Set 3: Quarter Square Triangles which included detailed, easy to follow directions for 3 different blocks, the Ohio Star, Beacon Light and Card Trick. They are all favorites of mine!
Ohio Star is a block that I use over and over in my quilts and I had so much fun cutting and sewing my beautiful batiks that I forgot to get a photo before the block became a project. I’ll show you this project tomorrow.
Once I finished that project it was time to make the Beacon Light and Card Trick blocks. Hmmm, I wonder what I’ll make with them…..I don’t want to make this blog post too long so I’ll share it later.
Did you happen to catch a peek of Iggy the other day? He loves getting his picture taken.
You can find what local quilt stores carry Island Batik fabrics near you by clicking here.
A blog hop wouldn’t be a blog hop without a giveaway! At the end of the blog hop we will randomly choose 4 winners. Each winner will receive a hard copy of You Can Quilt! and a bundle of fabric.
This is only eligible for U.S. residents. Sorry. Be sure to use the Rafflecopter box to enter the giveaways.
