Yesterday I pulled out my scrap bin of neutrals so I could get started on Bonnie Hunter’s new mystery quilt called Allietare. Are you doing it too? I don’t think I have opened that bin since last year and it didn’t take me long to realize that most of the pieces were really more like strings. Since I had pulled them all out……I figured I would make a few string blocks.
I ended up with 6 or 7 blocks before I stopped and you know……I barely used any of the scraps! Next I went to my neutral stash on the shelf and pulled out some fabrics. I also had a grey that will work for me. I used my AccuQuilt Go! fabric cutter and the #55319 Half Square Finished Triangle 1 1/2″ die to quickly cut all my pieces.
I finished up all of my half square triangles and also have some string blocks for an applique project!
Did you do any shopping on Black Friday? I picked up a ton of flannel at Joanns for under $2 a yard and also some fleece. Normally I stay home but there was something special I wanted this year…….
We headed to Menard’s before 6 AM Friday just so I could buy a couple bears……big bears!
Builder Bob had never gone shopping that early for a sale and he couldn’t believe the crowd waiting outside for the store to open in our small town. These bears are 52 inches tall! My daughter doesn’t usually read my blog (I won’t show this on Facebook) so she won’t know that these will be for my granddaughters. Oh, I’m also working on a new baby quilt and couldn’t resist having one of the bears hold on to it. Builder Bob thinks they are hilarious…..my dad thinks I’m crazy!
I also did some online shopping but I’ll share that soon.
