Working on the new studio

I thought I would share a few new photos and show you how the studio is coming along. The drop ceiling and lights are all done. There are 3 lights that will be directly over my cutting table. Here you can see we took the top off the table so it could be cut down to 36 inches. That is the perfect cutting height for me. See the unpainted wall in the back….my large bookcase will go there so we didn’t paint behind it.

The top is back on the table and I already brought down a big cutting mat that I bought a while ago. The lights on the table were upstairs in my room. I’ll show a better photo later but in case you noticed….the lights go all different directions. That is because Builder Bob installed them were I will need the light. The shelves on the back wall used to be to your left when you walked into the room. I thought I would like them toward the back but I’m not even sure if I like them. I’m still trying to figure out where I want a design wall and last night I asked Bob if he could build me a portable design wall that could sit in front of the shelves to hide them.

We also went to see about carpet or paint for the floor and should get a quote next week. This room is huge……a little over 16 wide by 32 long. I really like the idea of a painted floor but I can already tell the difference in standing on concrete since I’ve been down here working. I was planning on painting the bottom of the table today and also the door to the new Man Cave but we did some running in the morning and in the afternoon I had some projects I needed to work on so the painting didn’t happen.

This is the door coming into my room. Hopefully by next week my cabinets will be moved down here. I can’t wait to see what that will look like. Once the floor and trim are done I can start moving things down. There are several things that I’m not sure how I want until I start sewing down here.

Working on the new studio

I know everyone is doing year end posts with goals and resolutions and I had planned on doing one but time just got away from me. I can tell I’m getting “older” because the time just flies by! I want to thank all of you for sharing another great year with me. Every once in a while I get a little behind in posting and then I will get a email from someone checking on me and that charges me up again. Thanks Vicki for your sweet email yesterday.

Happy New Year to all!

I was wondering what type of light bulbs you are using. I used to grow thousands upon thousands of garden plants in our basement and we had full spectrum daylight fluorescent bulbs, installed in regular shop light fluorescent strips. It made it seem very sunny and natural down there.
