I finished Leah Day’s beautiful block from her Machine Quilting Block Party. I ended up using the same colors she chose because they are my favorites and I just happened to have them in my stash. Once I finish a couple projects with a Island Batik collection I save the scraps for something like this.
I have been free motion quilting for a long time but…..I sure have a hard time going slow like Leah does. I watched her videos (many are free) but I seem to be a “speed stitcher” so my stitches are on top of each other. When I go to work on a quilt…I’m fine.
I am just using muslin on the back and here you can see the quilting better. I wonder what design she’ll do for February!
Island Batik has chosen their new ambassadors for 2016 and I am excited to announce that I will continue as one. I really, really love working with the beautiful batiks and there are all kinds of fun things planned.
New addition to my room – isn’t this perfect!
Yesterday the weather was a little bit warmer so Builder Bob hauled
things out to the shed and I continued to empty out our storage room
(started on that the day before).Ugh! What I did was pull all the totes
and boxes and haul them into my quilt room and then sort them out. Going
to Goodwill was 4 large totes of clothes I know I won’t wear again.
Wool jackets, dress slacks, heels……I don’t need them anymore
and…..I also don’t think I’ll get back down to that size again. There
were also craft supplies and….quilting goodies. It was 11:30 last
night before I went to bed after sorting through it all. I am glad I was
wearing my Fitbit as both days I walked over 18,000 steps!! No wonder I
Someone asked where I had kept everything before when I had a small room…….well….I had stuff hidden in just about every room in the house other than the bathrooms and my dad’s room. It is amazing how big of a roll of batting can fit behind a bedroom door!
