I did a post the other day and showed my Board Game quilt plus I said I would be doing a giveaway….well here it is!

Sea Canyon is a beautiful batik collection that I used for my Board Game quilt that is in the current issue of Quiltmaker magazine. I design almost all of my quilts in Electric Quilt 7, it is a wonderful program that I have been using for years….and continuing to learn new things with it.

I thought it would be fun to show another picture of the quilt. The size of it is 51 x 51.Board Game Quilt Pattern in Quiltmaker magazineI had a couple extra blocks so I am going to make a table topper. I thought I would have it done by today but….it hasn’t happened yet…..maybe tomorrow!Sea Canyon table topper

I was not a sewer. 40 years later and thousands of dollars I am still going strong and loving it still. Not making too many large quilts anymore. I so want to learn to do feathers good. I do them but they are not the best. I hoped your Square in a Square would show me how but obviously not part of the tutorial. But I will make it and do my best.

I’ve been quilting since the early 1980s–then baby clothes and other necessities took over and replaced my quilting time. With the kids grown and gone, I’ve been piecing and quilting fairly steadily since around 2005. I must say, a lot has changed since those early days–rotary cutters, special rulers, and a wonderful community of quilters all willing to help each other. It’s just great!

  71. I started quilting in the mid 1980s – when the fabric choices were pretty limited. But I’ve been sewing since I was a little kid. My interest in quilting was really triggered by my sister-in-law.

  82. Those colors are so restful. I really like your small table topper! I’ve been quilting since the 60s–with templates and before rotary cutters. I made some baby quilts when my daughter was born. I can also remember hand sewing tiny snippets of Mom’s scraps together when I was about 5 years old. I proudly took them to the neighbor’s house, knocked on the door, and then asked if she would like to buy my quilt. It was maybe 5″ square (more or less). She probably gave me a nickel… my first sale! Does that count? Other hobbies are cooking, calligraphy and jewelry making–all of which are shoved aside for my quilt making.

It is fascinating what you can do with fabric.

  104. Though I’ve been interested in quilting for many more years, my first quilt was made when my son was 2 years old … 38 years ago!
