Checkmate Quilt Pattern
If you have been wanting to make a fast and easy quilt you should get this free Checkmate quilt pattern from Fat Quarter Shop. The finished quilt size is 66 x 84. I did a large stipple design free motion quilting on my vintage 15-91 Singer using Aurifil thread.
I have recently updated my tutorials and I didn’t realize that I have over 100 tutorials! No wonder we have quilts everywhere! After you download your free pattern and visit all the different blogs, be sure to come back and take a peek at my tutorials. I’m always adding new ones and would love to have you follow me. There are lots of options in my side bar.
One of my favorite designers is Joanna Figueroa from Fig Tree Quilts and I used her new Farm House line of fabrics for my Checkmate quilt. This collection has several black fabrics in it and I chose to use the black fabric with cherries all over it for my border. It is always fun to take photos of my quilts along the Mississippi river in front of our house.I always enjoy working with Photoshop and decided to desaturate my Checkmate quilt so I could see what it would look like if I had just used black and white fabrics. I think it looks pretty good!
