Have you seen the new Wonky Heart die from AccuQuilt? This die creates a block that looks like paper piecing but is actually easily pieced together. Keep reading and I’ll show you how fast you can make this block, I have all kinds of ideas for future projects! There is also a link to a free pattern at the end of the post!

AccuQuilt Wonky Hearts Batik

Like all AccuQuilt dies, the Wonky Heart die comes with color diagrams to help you create the block. The blocks are 6″ finished blocks and will also work with the AccuQuilt GO! 6″ and 12″ Qubes.

AccuQuilt Wonky Hearts Island Batiks

This is a great project for layer cakes. A 10″ square of fabric fits perfectly over the die. I am using some of my batiks from Island Batik.

Can you see the heart in the center of the die? I should have removed the light peach from the left side of the heart die, sorry.

Cutting 2 different layers of fabric gives you 2 blocks.

Start by piecing the top left corner, you’ll be surprised how fast this goes together!
Here is a closeup of the block sections.

I haven’t decided what I’m going to make with the blocks…..I might add some other batiks from my stash for a scrappy look. I pulled out the 6″ AccuQuilt Go! Qube and used the rectangle die.

  2. That’s a really cute baby quilt I love the colors. I have a lot of batiks. I should make something similar. I don’t have an Accuquilt but I love the many different colors of hearts and backgrounds. You always have such inspiring posts.

We are having a heat wave here too, sort of. Last week was cool enough that I was starting to pull warmer clothes to wear and now we are having a mini heat wave. I just want it to get cold so I can wear my new sweaters and long sleeve shirts.
